Top Tech Trends Panel 2023 is here again hosted by the Churchill Club.

And what a night it was! On Wednesday night, the hotly-anticipated Top Tech Trends Debate was held at Melbourne Connect with a brilliant lineup of panellists pitching their ideas for 'the next big thing' in emerging tech. Debate from all panellists was competitive, spirited and playful, and some fantastic emerging trends were discussed during the lively debate.

Panellists included: 

— Dr David Collins, presenting 3D printing for in the spot surgical intervent for the emergency room, he even brought his own formative printed 'body part' in the form of a hydrogel.

— Jane Bunn (of Channel Seven weather fame) on the value of hyperlocal weather forecasting—a gamechanger for high yield agriculture, productivity of large construction projects, solar and wind power sites and more.

— Nigel Dalton of Thoughtworks made the case for personal body cameras, not just police and frontline workers. Nigel was wearing is own lapel iEye, and admitted to being a glasshole', being an early adopter of Google Glasses.

— Dr Nataylia Ilyushina of RMIT talking about the intersection of digital identity and the workforce, in particular her vision of a labour market in which employees are semi-corporatised as their own mini-enterprises within the greater enterprise.

— Dr Rupert Walsh of Innovate GPT discussing the convergence of AI and biotech and AI through implantables. He provided an amazing vision of augmented cognition, prosthetic cognition for mental disabilities and many other configurations, even possibly unlocking personal telepathy, can you imagine?

Each panellist was critiqued by fellow panellists and the MC, helping sway the audience who held the ultimate voting power til the end. The debate was expertly moderated by Gretchen Scott who managed affairs with aplomb and kept presenters to time and topic, while also sprinkling in her own timely interjections throughout!

Ultimately there could only be one winner, and it was over to the audience to vote, with Rupert Walsh emerging victorious!
